Mellow Tangle Guard mounts in the filament path and provides purely mechanical protection against jammed or deformed filament ends. When a tangle, tape, glue or bent spool end creates abnormally high resistance, the mechanism routes the filament into the built-in SK5 blade and cuts it.
On printers with a filament runout sensor, the cut filament is detected as a normal material runout so the printer's own pause and notification functions can take over. The Tangle Guard contains no electronics and does not send a pause signal itself.
